VOCABULARY #3

Vehement - strongly emotional, intense or passionate: When my father died I was filled with a vehement feeling. As cliché as it may sound I feel love is the strongest emotion we as humans are capable of. Everyone has gone through all the main emotions such as sorrow, happiness, and jealousy just to try and feel love or keep the feeling of love alive. No other emotion has the potential of making humans go through hell just to feel it.

Adverse - being or acting in a contrary direction; opposed or opposing: It seems that most republicans are adverse to the idea of universal health care. Racism today is one of the main factors keeping human civilization from advancing and changing for the better. Racism goes against our civilization today but forms of it can still be found almost everywhere. If we can just get passed racism we will be once huge step closer to the utopian society we dream of.

Blatant - brazenly obvious; flagrant: it was obvious that the suspect was blatantly trying to hide something. From the beginning there were some who said the war on Iraq was just a cover-up for an oil war. After years of fighting more and more people are starting to see that oil was in fact a huge part of the war but still the government tries to deny it.

Aggravate - to annoy; irritate; exasperate: I try to ignore people who aggravate as to not get into a fight. Global Warming is the issue aggravating the tensions between government the most. Besides money, land, religion, and power now the governments of the world also have to try to work together to solve Global Warming and try to come to a solution that will benefit and harm every county just the same.

Factoid - something fictitious or unsubstantiated that is presented as fact: Some people believe evolution to be a factoid, but most scientists hold it as a fact. I choose the crusades to represent this definition, not because I don’t believe in god but rather because these knights gave and took life in combat for a god who discourages violence. The knights of the crusades listened to the factoids their cardinals and popes fed them and made them believe that war was gods will.

Bias- a particular tendency or inclination, esp. one that prevents unprejudiced consideration of a question; prejudice: The mothers love for her son led her to be bias when his teacher told him he was very disruptive in class. I believe that making a truly unbiased decision is impossible. Out of the factors in the decisions we make one will always favor us more than the other and even if it’s barely anything it’s still bias at it’s core. I picked this picture of the U.S congress voting on something because to me congress is one if not the most bias group of people in the planet, where one side is republican and the other democratic the whole house is already designed for bias opinions to thrive

Objectivity- a thing aimed at or sought, a goal: Placing a college education as his main objectivity made it his priority his whole life.Objectivity is what leads to one receiving what he/she wants. When other people make the same thing you want their objective it can be a lot har
der to get what you want but when more people, thousands of people want the same so much that they join and work together to achieve their goal it becomes only a matter of time until they win, that’s why I chose the photo above. The students of Iran have made a free democratic county their objective so much that they organize to try and change the whole country.

Reciprocate- to
make a return, as for something given: My fat
her always told me its bad to reciprocate when someone hurts you, because causing someone pain is wrong no matter what they’ve done to you. I don’t believe that reciprocating is correct but I do believe it’s necessary when one is being oppressed or hurt to stand up and but an end to his or her mistreatment. This photo of two Mexican soldiers du
ring the Mexican revolution seems like a perfect example of reciprocating with a just cause. These people were tired of the injustices the Spanish government treated them with and a retaliating with a revolution
was the only way to achieve independence and escape harsh rule.

Empathy- the intellectual identification with or vicarious experiencing ofthe feelings, thoughts, or attitudes of another: The empathy she felt when she saw him being bullied just as she was led her to help him and become his friend. Empathy is perhaps one of the most sincere emotions humans are capable of. The sight of a fellow human going through the same situations one has gone through, sparks a sense of comrade ship between the two individuals, often leading to the one with the most experience helping the other get through the hardship. I chose this photo because from my own experiences with war veterans, the empathy they share between them is strong enough that a soldier from fifty years ago can still feel empathy with a modern day soldier as much as he can with someone who fought next to him so long ago.

Deduct- To derive by deduction; deduce: One must deduct five from eight to be left with the number three. The oppression of anyone deducts not only from the humanity of that person or group, but from the whole society and ultimately the entire human race. I chose this picture because it’s a perfect example of the harsh oppression some endure and the punishments that come with it for simply trying to live like any human should.

Butter Bean’s magic turban has gone missing and its up to Barter to find it. So Butter Bean can make it home in time for dinner. They searched far and wide and couldn’t find it. Thye searched under rocks, under rivers, under trees, under clouds, but the magic turban his grandpa gave him was never found. Butter Beans and Barter were just about to give up when they heard a cry, a cry that sounded a lot like a huge bird. As they looked up they noticed a bird had used the turban as a nest and was now pattin git with hay. Now the tree was really high way too high to climb and a fall from that hight can give someone more problems than just a missing turban. Butter Bean didn't care, he had to get it back so he gathered all his courage and started to climb. He climbed for days and rights before he could reach he top and the magic turban a branch broke causing Butter Bean to fall. He fell for two days and two nights, but in the very last second before he hit the ground Barter flew up in the air and saved him. Together they retrieved the turban and flew back home. Even though it was Barter flying the whole time and not the turban, Butter Bean was still very happy to have it back and very happy to know Barter was even more especial than he had ever thought possible.

“Yes ma’am thank you” That was his third cup of joe that morning. His name is Charles, he’s thirty-five years old and he’s late. You see he’s hit some hard times and its not easy to get by when you gotta feed four mouths and those damn kids on fourth street think they’re, they’re all hard, they always trying to jack something, think they’re “gangsta” they go around with their pants down to their ankles and those cheap ass chains, looks like their mama spray painted the damn thing and gave it to them for their birth day or something. Any way he had to “work” late last night him and Jerald (his buddy) made a quick trip to that little restaurant in Bowery. Easiest gig they had in weeks. Got outta there with three big bags full of rich folk stuff.

They never get caught, too much murder and rape for the pigs to bother themselves with two guys from Brooklyn just trying to survive. Just surviving aint enough anymore. They’re sick of it, they're sick of waking up to shoots every night. They're sick of having to watch their backs when they walk to the corner. They're sick it and they're sick of it all. After tonight Jerald and Charles should have enough money to move to some real nice place and live out the rest of their days with their families, free from all worries. Two weeks ago our two friends here were eating lunch, I don’t remember where but that don’t matter. They was eating whatever they was eating and noticed one of those big armored trucks that bring money to banks, they noticed there was only two pigs watching the truck and they noticed the truck has a lot, a lot of cash, enough cash to set them both straight for life.

Tonight is the night and Charles is late, if its gonna work he's got ten minutes to make it there. This is how its gonna go down. Charles borrowed a couple of guns from this guys he know. Jerald supposed to set up a spike somewhere on the trucks rout, when a car hits the spike the tires will pop and there's gonna be a pileup, now the bank cant be getting its money late so the truck is gonna go under the bridge and our two friends is gonna be there waiting to set up another pileup only this time the armored truck is getting its tires popped. The other cars is gonna crash into the armored truck and there's gonna be a big ass party with everyone trying to save themselves that no one is gonna notice to guys walking up to the truck and popping two rounds into the guards heads. Then they gonna go a head and take all they want, put it in their car and drive away. So you think people will see them taking the cash? And so what? Whose gonna try to go up and tell them to stop? And whose car is ok to go after them? aint no one gonna do nothing and they cant identify them later cuz Charles and Jerald is gonna wear a mask. All that is only gonna work if Charles make it there on time. He's got twenty minutes to make it from Brooklyn to Manhattan and he's about to miss the first subway.
